COLIEE 2017: Editor's PrefaceOn behalf of the Program Committee, we are pleased to present the proceedings of the fourth Competitions on Legal Information Extraction/Entailment (COLIEE 2017), held in conjunction with the 16th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Law (ICAIL 2017) in King’s College London. The former COLIEE workshops were held in conjunction with the JURISIN (JURIS INformatics) workshop of JSAI International Symposia on AI (JSAI-isAI) held in Japan. This year, the COLIEE workshop hosts 7 presentations of peer-reviewed papers for systems of competition participants, while two champion presentations are separately made in the ICAIL main conference. We also have a live competition in the conference. We would like to thank everyone who submitted to the workshop. We would also like to thank the Program Committee for their time and effort as well as for their valuable comments.
