However, there is either a dearth of research that particularly examines attendance and these two aspects, or each element is examined separately. Thus, this article investigates how students' academic and social-emotional competencies are influenced by the implementation of attendance policies. Data was collected from many pertinent publications. The influence of attendance on children's academic and social-emotional development has been found to be both beneficial and negative. While high absenteeism rates are detrimental, high attendance rates are beneficial. Because the multi-systemic approach adopts a holistic strategy including the school, parents, community initiatives, peer influence, governmental organisations, and teachers, this research adopted it. The results indicate that in order to reduce absence rates, schools should adopt preventative measures and put them into practice. The use of home-based, community-based, or school-based interventions is also emphasised.
