In Brazil, the research priorities agenda of the Ministry of Health (MS_2018) includes the axis that establishes the development of technologies and innovation in health, and, historically, the Brazilian universities represent important national sector for the technological development of medical equipment. In this context, based on qualitative methodologies such as those of participant observation, this research aimed to evaluate the partnership between the University of Brasília (UnB) and the MS for the construction of the Medical Equipment for the treatment of the Diabetic Foot (Rapha Equipment). After analyzing the data, there were gaps between: 1) government / university / private initiative; and 2) areas of knowledge involved in equipment development. It is suggested to insert other activities in these procedures in order to maximize the objectives of partnerships of this nature.
