The First World War constituted a conflict that Portugal participated actively. Responding to this appeal, the special regime (1916-1919), mode of operation adapted to the needs of the War, was the solution that the institution found to deal with this situation. The School tried to adapt the teaching to the war effort, revealing a didactic effort and a remarkable capacity of organization. In this period, training in Statistics already plays an important role, but it is divided into several seats.
