Our Masters Symposium is organized as an open forum for Computer Science M.Sci (or Ph.D) students and their mentors. Therefore, we offer an open Call for Papers. The topical focus of the Symposium is within the Data Science and Machine Learning landscape. In particular, it solicits contributions dealing with novel techniques, technologies, and methodologies, based on the synergies within the fields of Data Mining, KnowledgeDiscovery, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Explainable AI, and Augmented Reality.
The Symposium is seen as a venue giving a good chance for young researchers and practitioners, both from academia and industry, to present and receive feedback on their M.Sci or Ph.D projects at an early stage. Therefore, short forward-looking papers presenting M.Sci or Ph.D research proposals are solicited (a.k.a. M.Sci or Ph.D Exposé). Our vision of this Masters Symposium is to bring together students and advisors to create an expert environment for the presentation of ideas, possibly supported by early results, of master projects or other research aiming at receiving a M.Sci or Ph.D degree.
Young researchers, who will join us to take part in discussions and/or present their papers, will be offered an opportunity to exchange and discuss their research ideas with their peers, supervisors, and senior scientists working in the fields that are within the scope of the Symposium.
Symposium Scope
We solicit submissions of original work, not previously published, or submitted for publication elsewhere, that address one or more of the following broad topics:
- Mining valuable information and knowledge from data of different modalities: text, image, audio, video, sensor output, etc.
- Using machine learning approaches and developing related techniques for solving problems in classification, categorization, clustering, pattern recognition in (mined or raw) data
- Exploring synergetic or hybrid approaches in solving computer vision and augmented reality problems
We solicit the presentations of theoretical, experimental, and technological aspects of M.Sci (or Ph.D) research and development projects (further abbreviated as M.Sci projects).
Symposium Format
We favour in-person gathering for the Symposium to enable different channels of communication and networking as fully as possible. However, we care about the safety of our attendees and are inclined to minimizing all the potential travel risks related to presential participation. Therefore, the Symposium is organized in a hybrid format, which allows either physical presence on the site or virtual participation. Both ways of attendance are supported by the organizers.

Submission Guidelines
The language of the Symposium is English. Submissions in any other language will be rejected without review. Presentations in any other language are also not accepted.
We solicit short papers that present and justify M.Sci or Ph.D projects, or report the early results of these projects in addition to the presentation of the project. The presentations of early results are encouraged as these help prove the validity of the project and chosen approach. Topically, a submission should fit into the Symposium scope outlined above.
All submissions shall be annotated by the key words/phrases freely chosen by the authors. At least three and at most five key phrases have to be provided. All submissions must strictly comply with the Guidelines for Springer Computer Science Conference authors as explained in the MS-AMLV-2025 formatting instructions page . Submissions must be made in PDF at https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=msamlv2025.
Page limit: not less than 10 and not more than 12 Springer LNCS pages.
It is required that the first author of any paper submitted for the Symposium is either a student at M.Sci or Ph.D level ora young researcher from industry who is working towards obtaining a Ph.D. The supervisor or scientific advisor may be involved as the last author of a submission if deemed appropriate. Other authors may be listed only if they: (i) provide valuable inputs to the presented PhD project; and (ii) are external to the organization where the first author comes from. The organisers reserve the right to reject, without a review, a submission that does not comply with these authorship constraints.
Evaluation and Publication
Every submission will be evaluated by at least three members of the International Program Committee composed of the experts in the fields of interest for the Symposium. Evaluation will focus on originality, technical correctness, rigor and maturity, and the potential impact of the planned or early results in a short to mid-term perspective.
Accepted papers will be published online, in the proceedings volume with ISBN, shortly after the Symposium. More details on the evaluation process and milestones are given in the MS-AMLV Process and Quality page (https://apps.ucu.edu.ua/en/ms-amlv-2023/process-and-quality/).
Presentation
Accepted papers must be presented at the Symposium session by its student author, who commits to register and attend the conference. The Symposium Chairs reserve the right to exclude from the proceedings the papers that have not been presented.

How to Get to Lviv and UCU
L’viv is a major cultural and touristic venue in the very West of Ukraine, having tight historical links to the neighbouring European countries. The city is easily reachable by using railway or bus connections from Europe through Poland, Slovakia, or Hungary. L’viv is also connected by rail and road to the major Ukrainian cities. More details are available at the Conference Venue web page (https://apps.ucu.edu.ua/en/).
